About Journal collection

The Journal collection paintings and drawings are an ongoing collection that is intended to create freely as an artist and to be able to share work outside the restraints of a formal collection and gallery setting. The Journal collection is based on diary pages of the artist and are portraying thoughts and experiences and memories.

Marianne Hendriks’s family also has a long tradition of painting in watercolour and carrying a small watercolour tin box around. The small illustrations are often passed around and gifted to each other in letters and on birthdays or holidays. Drawings and illustrations are intimate and joyous and are at the core of all of Marianne Hendriks’s work and creation process.

The Journal collection are paintings on traditional archival cotton paper with variations in medium, created with aquarelle, gouache, shellac ink, colour pencil and oil paint.
